Administrative Guidelines
 

2412 - HOMEBOUND INSTRUCTION

 A.Whenever a principal finds that a student will be absent from school twenty (20) days or more for health reasons, s/he should advise the family to make a referral requesting homebound instruction (Form 2412 F1). This referral will be forwarded to the Special Education Coordinator. Evaluation and team determination of a health handicap will result in an IEP to provide homebound instruction. (Refer to Model Policies and Procedures for the Education of Children with Disabilities, IEP-LRE.)

 B.Teachers and/or guidance counselors should be contacted as soon as possible.

 C.All assignments are made through the office of the Special Education Coordinator.

 D.Accurate time sheets must be kept of all cases. The time sheet is to be signed by the parent and attached to the completed voucher.

 E.Time sheets and vouchers are to be submitted by the end of the pay period.

 F.All books and supplies will be furnished by the school in which the student is registered.

 G.Instruction will be given only on days that school is in session. Each child will receive a minimum of five (5) hours of instruction per week.

 H.The instructor shall forward grades to the principal of the school the student attends by the end of the marking period.

 I.Certified personnel giving bedside instruction shall be paid as approved annually by the Board.

 J.Instructors will receive the mileage reimbursement at the established rate both to and from school and residence of the student.

 K.If there are any questions pertaining to payment for bedside instruction or mileage, the Treasurer should be contacted.
